Current Openings
As a Canine Care Associate, you will help create a positive experience for potential adopters by providing high-quality customer service and a clean, healthy environment for the homeless dogs in the kennels. A Canine Care Associate’s primary responsibility is to clean, feed & walk the dogs & observe dogs for signs of stress or illness. You will also interact with the dogs to see their personality and document your findings in our database so we can make the best adoption matches possible.
Additional responsibilities include screening adoption applicants, providing behavioral counseling & advice, providing behavior training & enrichment to the neediest dogs and learning more advanced skills like dog-dog and cat-dog introductions. Departmental hours of operation are Monday- Friday from 9am to 7pm, Saturday from 8am-6pm and Sunday from 9am to 5pm. Shifts may vary. Open Availability preferred but not required. Applicants must have some weekend availability and should be prepared to work on some major holidays. No experience necessary- as long as you like animals and people, we can teach you the rest!

As a Customer Care Associate, you will provide high-quality customer service in person and on the phone to effectively communicate Providence Animal Center’s lifesaving mission, policies and procedures to members of the public. A Customer Care Associate’s primary responsibilities are to process adoptions, answer phone calls & data entry. You will work to create a positive experience for all visitors coming to the Center who include but are not limited to adopters, donors, volunteers, foster homes & clients seeking medical services for their pets.

As an Admissions Associate at Providence Animal Center, you will provide all animals (cats, dogs, puppies & kittens) in the assigned areas with a clean kennel, exercise, attention, affection, feeding, watering, mental stimulation and basic grooming. Your primary responsibilities after cleaning are to assist with administering wellness examinations for all incoming animals to include vaccinations, basic medical tests and routine preventative care. You will work closely with all departments in the Center, including many volunteers & foster families, to get animals ready for adoption.

As a part-time Kennel Cleaner, you will perform daily cleaning and sanitizing of the shelter areas, kennels, cages, following cleaning and disease control protocol.
The Kennel Cleaner is responsible for:
- providing all animals in assigned area with feeding, watering, and a clean living space
- Cleaning and maintaining animal housing, bedding, food/water dishes, and trash removal in assigned area to include Cattery, Cat Holding, Dog Holding, Nursery, Kennels, and Puppy Holding rooms
- Monitoring health status of all animals in assigned area(s), writing vet request slips and/or reporting any pressing concerns to your immediate supervisor and/or staff veterinarian for evaluation in a timely fashion
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Animal shelter; subject to work outside in a variety of weather conditions
- Ability to handle dogs as large as 100 lbs
- Must sit, stand, walk, bend and stoop frequently to perform duties
- Ability to lift and carry 25lbs without assistance
- Possible exposure to cleaning agents, allergens, and zoonotic disease
- Subject to loud/frequent noise, animal bites, and scratches
Providence Animal Center located in Media, PA is looking for part-time Kennel Cleaners to work from 9am to 12noon. No experience necessary- as long as you like animals and people, we can teach you the rest!

As a Veterinary Technician, you would be responsible for prepping patients for surgery, observing all clinic procedures to enforce sterility and safety of patients; monitor anesthesia with a clear idea of abnormal conditions; have knowledge and ability to admit and discharge patients, including delivering post-operative instructions in a competent and friendly manner; general duties in the operating room during surgery to assist with movement of patients, recovery of patients, and general flow; cleaning of facility and surgical pack preparation as assigned; must be able to learn basic veterinary medical concepts including but not limited to vaccine protocols and anesthetic risks; must also be able to communicate basic veterinary concepts to owners and be able to repeat information relayed by a veterinarian; communicate with the public on a daily basis in a professional manner.
This position would be approximately 24-28 hours per week. The shifts would generally be 8:45am-6pm, Monday-Friday with occasional Saturdays. Applicants must be well-spoken, punctual, dependable, and have reliable transportation. Flexibility in your schedule is a must and applicants must be prepared to regularly work days, nights, and weekends. Applicants must have a genuine desire to improve the lives of homeless pets and should enjoy working with the public.
Qualifications include:
- Experience in a veterinary clinic, veterinary hospital, and/or animal shelter required
- Customer service experience preferred
- Candidate should be highly motivated, enthusiastic self-starter with a professional attitude.
- Applicants must have the ability to multitask in a fast-paced team-oriented environment
- Experience handling dogs and cats required
- Basic computer skills, data entry, ability to learn web-based veterinary program

The Providence Animal Center, formerly known as the Delaware County SPCA has an immediate opening for a part time Veterinary Receptionist. Tasks/Major Responsibilities
- Perform Reception duties such as make appointments, return messages in a timely manner, sign in animals for surgery, refill medications, data entry, etc.
- Counsel clients on proper preventatives such as flea/tick, heart-worm including heart-worm testing.
- Educate clients about our spaying/neutering, yearly heart-worm testing, dental cleanings.
- Attend seminars/meetings to advance your knowledge.
- Greet clients as soon as they enter the facility
Requirements
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment

- Show empathy and emotions when a client calls with an ill/injured pet
- Good communication skills
- Know pricing of procedures/general medication
- Veterinary/animal experience preferred or willingness to learn.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills; professional telephone etiquette.
- Ability to learn and effectively communicate behavioral and medical information about the animals.
- Knowledge of computers and relevant software applications including MS Office and Google Docs. Capable of learning our adoptions software. Ability to type proficiently.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with volunteers, co-workers, and management.
- Learn dog/cat breed characteristics, companion animal behavior, and general veterinary practices and be able to convey that information accurately to the public.
- Ability to handle customer needs, including complaints, with confidence.
- Ability to remain calm and show compassion in difficult situations.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift and carry 20lbs without assistance.
- Ability to work closely with animal hair/dander.
- Subject to loud or frequent noise.
