A LEGACY THAT SAVES LIVES

Providence Animal Center (PAC) is fortunate that many of our supporters have made the decision to include PAC in their estate plans – gifts that will save lives for years into the future. We are grateful for all estate gifts, regardless of the size. The process doesn’t have to be complicated. By including PAC in your estate plan, you keep full control of your assets during your life.  The information included here will give you a few – but not all – of the options when considering a planned gift. Always consult your professional advisor for gifts of this nature.

If you have questions or need more information, contact:

Tara Summers,
Director of Advancement and Donor Relations
ttodd@providenceac.org / 610.566.4575 x219

Ways to leave a legacy gift:

Will or Revocable Trust Expand

One of the most popular ways you can make an estate gift to the Providence Animal Center is to include a provision in your will or revocable living trust.   If you already have a will or revocable trust your attorney can simply amend it to include PAC. If you don’t have a will or revocable trust, an estate planning attorney can create a document directing either a specific amount or percentage of your estate to support the Providence Animal Center.

Sample Bequest Language:

I give, devise and bequeath to the Delaware County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, DBA Providence Animal Center (Federal Tax ID 23-1440112) located in Media, Pennsylvania, the sum of $______ [or all or ____ percent of the remainder of my estate] to be used for its general purposes.

Beneficiary Designations: A gift from your retirement plan, life insurance policy, or donor advised fund Expand

One of the simplest ways to make an estate gift is to name Providence Animal Center as the charitable beneficiary of one of your financial plans. This often can be done with a simple form or on-line – just contact your plan administrator.

Retirement Plans - Assets in retirement accounts such as an IRA, 401(k), 403(b) or other tax- sheltered retirement plan will be distributed to those individuals and charitable organizations you have named as beneficiaries. You can designate PAC to receive all or a portion of the remaining funds in the account. Naming charities may result in tax savings for your heirs – consult your financial advisor.

Life Insurance - You can name PAC as a beneficiary for all or a portion of the death benefit of a life insurance policy.

Donor advised funds - The sponsoring charity of a donor advised fund may allow you to suggest PAC as one of the charitable organizations to benefit from your fund at your passing.

Other beneficiary designation opportunities – You may be able to designate PAC as a beneficiary of your bank accounts, investment accounts or commercial annuities. Contact the financial institution administering these accounts.

Pet Bequests Expand

Providence Animal Center understands the comfort a pet can bring and their continued care is important. Occasionally, there is a concern from our friends about who will care for their pets when they are no longer around. Friends or family members may not be able to take them into their home. Establishing a pet bequest will offer the peace of mind that your pet will be cared for and provided a new forever home. Our caring and trained staff work with individuals and families to place all our animals in loving homes. We will make sure that your pet receives the same thoughtful care as every animal that comes to us.

Through the Providence Animal Center Pet Bequest Program, a pet owner may bequeath their pet along with sufficient funds, directly to PAC. You will have the peace of mind knowing that your pet will live out their remaining years in a loving home similar to the one you provided.

Next Steps

  1. For wills and trusts contact your legal or financial advisor to assist with the planning and preparation of documents. For a beneficiary designation, contact the plan administrator.
  2. If you wish to restrict your gift to a specific aspect of PAC’s life-saving work, contact Tara Summers, Director of Advancement and Donor Relations, who can discuss with you – in confidence- the impact you wish to have with your estate gift.
  3. Once your gift documents are complete contact PAC so we can express our gratitude for your gift. Your name will be anonymous if you wish.

If have already added Providence Animal Center to your estate plans, we thank you for legacy gift and welcome you into The 1911 Society. As a member of our planned giving society you have joined a group of like-minded individuals who recognize the importance of supporting our life-saving work.

We respect that not everyone is comfortable discussing what is covered in this brochure. All conversations with any of the PAC Advancement staff are always confidential. We have an ethical responsibility to maintain all conversations and correspondence at the highest professional standards. Please contact us any time.
