Planned Giving

Planned Giving

Saving countless lives with a little of your life savings!

Planned gifts are the ultimate expression of generosity and commitment to Providence Animal Center and of caring and concern for the health and well-being of the animals we serve. These gifts can be funded using cash, securities, or estate gifts. As a qualified not-for-profit institution, gifts made to Providence Animal Center are exempt from income taxes, as well as gift and estate taxes, to the extent of and in the amount provided by federal and state laws.

How does my planned gift help the animals at Providence Animal Center?

Every gift, no matter how large or small, helps save the lives of homeless pets. When you make a planned gift to Providence Animal Center, you’ll be supporting lifesaving adoption programs, the prevention of cruelty to animals through our humane investigations program and low-cost medical and behavioral services.

Planned giving also helps you meet your personal, financial and estate planning goals by making a current or future gift to Providence Animal Center. Here are the different ways to make a planned giving donation:

Will or Trust Expand

Probably the easiest and most common way of leaving a planned gift to care for the animals at Providence Animal Center is to leave us in your will or trust.

How to include Providence Animal Center in your will:

All you need to do is provide one of these statements to your estate planner:

Bequest Language: "I give to Delaware County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, also doing business as Providence Animal Center, a Pennsylvania corporation with its principal offices at 555 Sandy Bank Rd, Media, PA 19063, the sum of $ ___ to be used for its general purposes."

If you prefer to leave a percentage of your estate you can use the phrase “___% to be used for its general purposes.”

Our Tax ID # is 23-1440112

We use the name Providence Animal Center, but are legally known as Delaware County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Please be sure to include our legal name in your will or trust to ensure your gift goes directly to benefit the animals in our care.

Gifts of Stocks and Bonds Expand

A donation of your securities, including your stocks or bonds, is an easy way for you to make a gift to Providence Animal Center. By making a gift of your appreciated securities, you may be able to avoid paying capital gains tax that would otherwise be due if you sold these assets.

Make your gift today by electronic transfer!

It's easy. Please call or email Tara Summers at (610) 566-4575 x 219 or TTodd@ProvidenceAC.org, for delivery instructions to make a transfer from your brokerage account to Providence Animal Center.

A Gift from A Donor Advised Fund (DAF) Expand

A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a type of giving program that allows you to easily support your favorite charities. You may also be eligible for certain tax benefits. An increasingly popular charitable vehicle, DAFs are an excellent way to both simplify your charitable giving and facilitate your strategic philanthropic goals.

If you have already established a donor-advised fund and would like to send a gift to support our mission, we utilize DAF Direct to help facilitate your gift. DAF Direct works with Fidelity Charity, Schwab Charitable and BNY Mellon Charitable Gift Fund. If your DAF is held by any of these three sponsoring organizations, your request can be expedited by using the DAF Direct portal below.

If your DAF is with another administrator or you prefer not to utilize DAF direct, you can simply ask your DAF administrator to make checks payable to Providence Animal Center and mail to the following address:

Providence Animal Center
555 Sandy Bank RdMedia, PA 19063

Our tax identification number is 23-1440112.

If you have already established a donor-advised fund with Fidelity Charity, Schwab Charitable and BNY Mellon Charitable Gift Fund and would like to send a gift to support our mission, we utilize DAF Direct to help facilitate your gift. Your request can be expedited by using the DAF Direct portal below.

401 K-9 and Kitten Program: Gifts from your 401k, 403b or IRA Expand

Come join our “401K-9 and Kitten” program and consider making a gift of your retirement assets, such as a gift from your IRA, 401k, 403b, pension or other tax-deferred plan. It is an excellent way to make a gift to Providence Animal Center! By making a gift of your retirement assets, you will help further our lifesaving mission and likely avoid paying taxes too.

How to transfer your retirement assets naming us as a beneficiary?

Your retirement assets may be transferred to Providence Animal Center by completing a beneficiary designation form provided by your plan custodian. If you designate us as beneficiary, we will benefit from the full value of your gift because your IRA assets will not be taxed upon your passing. Your estate will benefit from an estate tax charitable deduction for the gift.

Requirement Minimum Distribution

If you are at least 70 ½, you can also make donations of your Required Minimum Distributions to Providence Animal Center directly from your custodian to us and avoid including that money in your taxable income. Simply contact your plan administrator and ask them to make the gift directly to us. You will be able to exclude this donation from your taxable income!

IRA roll over

Another option if you are at least 70 ½ is to make a roll over distribution up to $100,000 to us. While you won’t be able to take a charitable donation deduction for your gift, it can usually be excluded from your taxable income!
