Santa’s Furever 5

A few of our favorite homeless pets have had a hard time finding forever homes, so we've asked Santa to bring them, the Furever 5, forever homes in time for Christmas. All of these wonderful pets have sponsored fees, thanks to generous donors, which means they are free to loving homes. Along with a lifetime of love, the adoption of each of the following Furever 5 includes free training, a $50 PetSmart gift card, a Big Barker dog bed or a cat scratcher, all thanks to a special donor.

Without further ado, meet our Furever 5!

Dear Santa,

My name is Mavis. I've been a really good girl all year, and I wanted to write you a letter to tell you the small gesture I want for Christmas. I know you watch over us all year, so you already know about me, but just in case, I want to refresh your memory. I once had a family for a short period of time, but they gave me away to a high-risk shelter in Philadelphia, where I thought it was going to be the end of the road for me. After a little time passed, I was lucky enough to be saved by a local rescue group called Providence Animal Center, in Media, where people told me I never had to worry about being in that scary situation again.

Being at the shelter, the people who work there learned a lot about me. They learned I love to cuddle on cold days, which is great because it’s winter now. I love to lay on the couch and do nothing or I can be an active girl and join someone for long walks. I like to run around the house when I get my “zoomies,” and I love car rides. The people here asked me “Mavis, if you got adopted, what kind of life would you like to have?” Well, if I had a forever person, I would love to help them work on their fitness and even motivate them to reach their New Year resolution goal! Because I'm not fond of sharing, I would really like to be the only pet in the home, but I can be friends with dogs on the outside sometimes. I really like to play with older kids who can walk me and handle my energy, and most of all, I love food! I’ll eat almost anything. Counter-surfing is one of my favorite hobbies. As an added bonus, I’m house-trained and crate-trained. I told the nice people here all of that, and I wanted to tell you too, Santa so you can hopefully help me find a place just like that, where I belong, in this world.

I'll be waiting,
Mavis

Austin

Dear Santa,

I’m not sure if you know who I am, but my name is Austin, and I’ve been through a lot this year. It started off by what I thought were my people leaving me at a shelter in Philadelphia where my life could have been on the line. Can you imagine? How scary. I was there for a little while before these amazing people from this shelter in Media called Providence Animal Center came to rescue me. They were very nice and made me feel like I was part of a family even though I know it’s a shelter. The kennel manager Carolyn worked with me lots to make me feel comfortable and safe.

The reason I write this letter to you is because I really only want one thing from you this year, and I will never need to ask for anything ever again. I really would like a home, Santa, a home where I am safe and loved for real, where I know I’m going to wake up every morning and go to bed every night.

I am from Philly, so living in Philly would be cool; I am a huge Eagles fan because I think I could be a pro athlete; not to brag, but look at my physique! But honestly, I would be happy anywhere. I love to go places and my happy place is in the car. I could be in the car all day! I love others, love men, women and older kids who can handle me, although I am not always a fan of sharing my toys. I could live with the right dog, but she has to be a girl. I am housebroken and crate-trained. I know sit and paw, too, which I enjoy doing for treats as many times as someone asks. If you know of anyone who would like a loyal, smart friend like me, please send them my way for Christmas.

Thanks, Santa,
Austin

Bruno

Dear Santa,

In the 7 years I’ve been around, I’ve never written to you, so I figured now would be as good of a time as any to ask for something really important for Christmas. Santa, I’m homeless. I don’t have a real family anymore. I miss having a family to greet every day when they get home. I miss having someone to sleep with and do fun activities with. The reason for this letter to you is so you can maybe use your Santa powers to ask people if they want a really cool companion like me. I am a good boy. I like cats, so I can share my new home with one! I like to get active and then nap for hours. I like most dogs that are around me. I am housebroken and love car rides! I would really like to have a home with adults like me in it. I promise if you can find me a forever home this year, I will always be a good boy.

Looking forward to hopefully finding my home again.

Love,
Bruno

Honey

Dear Santa,

My name is Honey, because I’m sweet, like honey. Just kidding. I’m a sassy girl, and I know it. In all honesty, though, Santa, I really need a home. I’m the longest homeless pet in the whole shelter here, going on almost two years. It makes me really sad sometimes even though I act tough like it doesn’t bother me. I really just want one person who I can trust and who I know will never put me in this situation again. If you are wondering what I could tell you about myself, I love to sunbathe for hours. I like to be active, so active that I am allowed to be an inside/outside cat! How cool is that? I would like to live with adults and without any other pesky, I mean pretty, pets. I am hoping you can send me some good vibes and help me find the place I can call home forever and ever.

Thanks, Santa,
Honey

Estelle

Dear Santa,

My name is Estelle, and I am currently staying at Providence Animal Center. I am an overall happy cat, I just am missing one thing, a home. I would love more than anything to have one of my very own. I am easy to get along with once I trust you. I can even share a home with a cat or a dog! My best home would have all adults in in. I am hoping to find a family that will love me for who I am, just like families are supposed to do. If you could give me one Christmas miracle this year, it would be to give me a new life with a family who may need me just as much as I need them.

Thanks for listening, Santa. I’ll do whatever I can to repay you!

Love,
Estelle
