Some very special homeless puppies met some very special lads on St. Patrick's Day at the Q102 studios!
Cleopatra (black and white) and Bob (brindle), 8-week-old Lab/Bulldog were asked to join the UK sensation boy band One Direction during the performance of their near #1 single “What Makes You Beautiful,” and then on the red carpet after, on Q102's iHeartRadio Theater.
These sweet pups will be available for adoption on March 23!
Buddy is a sweet Lab-Shepherd pup that was thrown from a moving car and suffered severe burns on his paws. For weeks, he recovered in our Isolation Unit. Here's Buddy hanging out in the managers' office during recovery (waiting for a treat if you can't tell what he's staring at!), when the paws needed to be cleaned and dressed multiple times a day:

This is Curious George. He came to us at Providence Animal Center on Halloween afternoon, price dropped off by a concerned citizen who saw him roaming the streets. He should weigh 60-70 lbs, he’s only 35 lbs. In other words, he’s half of his body weight. It’s amazing that George is alive, let alone standing as he was so severely dehydrated, a dog in his condition shouldn’t be able to walk. This is perhaps the worst act of deliberate deprivation to food and water we’ve ever seen. Dogs are extremely resourceful and could have access to trash, etc. in order to survive and it’s clear Curious George was denied that ability to fend for himself. Based on our experience with animal cruelty, Curious George was deliberately starved. Our Humane Investigator is currently investigating where Curious George was found to try to find any information about who might have done this to him. Our hope is that you might be able to cover Curious George’s story to help us find out more information about who did this to him and to prevent future acts of cruelty to animals; to know that we as a community do not stand for such cruelty.

See you there!
Hey furry lovers. Sorry its been a while. But, we promise it'll be worth the wait. And we promise to write more often.
We had to hear this Cinderella-esk happy tail over and over again–because it seemed too good to be true, and because it's one of those stories that makes you feel a rush of happiness every time you hear it.
We feel it's only appropriate to christen our blog with the story of one of our most favorite and memorable animals, Scarlet, a white Pit Bull mix that you often could mistake for a pig with the pink pigmentation of her skin and triangular, oink-like ears.
(Scarlet looking like a pig with her former foster daddy, Micah)
Scarlet entered the Adoption Center as a stray in early December of 2010. She was underweight and most likely over-bred. Sadly, a common sight for a lot of the Pit Bulls that find their way to us. At first, she was scared, and then she got to not liking dogs because of all those darn dogs she had to share her living quarters with in the dog kennels, but boy did she blossom when she went to outreach events. She loved kids!
